How to Get Interviews:

Many job seekers in Ethiopia get frustrated because they apply to many places, but never get called for interviews. This is happening to many job seekers applying for various jobs in Ethiopia through job portals such Ezega Jobs, EmployEthiopia, EthioJobs, Mjobs, etc. In many cases, the reasons are simple and common.

Regardless of whether you are applying from mjobs or employethiopia or any other, the hiring manager normally gets many resumes to review. The number one question in the mind of the hiring manager is who among the many applicants can best handle the job at hand. The only way to tell prior to interviews is through resumes and cover letters. The hiring manager would normally look for someone who has done something similar or at least one who showed interest in the work being advertised. If your cover letter so generic (the same for all jobs), you will be talking about something else not related to the job you are applying - which means, in the eye of the hiring manager, you are not suitable for the job you are applying. So, it is extremely important that you edit the cover letter for each job you are applying to show interest in the job, and to mention something related that you have done or studied in the past. The main point is that you are conveying a message to the hiring manager that you understand what the job needs and you have done or studied something related to the job you are applying.

Position Home Care Coordinator (HCC) / Family Assistant Reports to Family members of Mrs Elisabeth Ferrari Supervises Nurses, cleaners, cook, guard Working hours Full time 48 hours weekly with some flexibility Working environment Villa house
Job Objective Manage and coordinate the overall care, well-being and daily life needs an elderly woman, a person affected with fronto-temporal dementia (FTD) that depends, in every sense, on the people around her, so that she’s taken care in the best possible way.

These include but are not limited to the patient’s:

Personal health care:
• Manage and coordinate routine health care habits such as personal hygiene
• Identify if and when the patient is at risk of hurting herself and take necessary measures;
• Plan and monitor the patient’s nutrition;
Medical care:
• Manage and coordinates the health care plan by close follow up with the external medical team (local or foreign) that may include doctors, psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, etc.;
• Manage and coordinate the health care plan by close follow up the internal team of nurses and care givers, making sure the health care plan is followed appropriately.
• If necessary (with the help of the patient’s family members if needed), propose the introduction of new members into the network/team of professional and medical staff (external or internal) with the aim of providing the best possible health care plan for the patient;
• Communicate and report to family members in regards to the on-going medical treatments and any change, progress or regressions;
• Be aware of the patient’s progress/situation, any new health issues that may arise due to the primary illness or any other reasons and take the necessary actions, including arranging necessary doctor’s appointments etc;
• Make sure the environment is as safe as possible for patients with such illnesses;
• Prepare, maintain and organize all medical records;

Social care:
• Builds a close and caring relationship with the patient. Listen and interpret needs and concerns;
• Plan and coordinate the person’s recreational activities;
• Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve the health of the patient;
• Plan and organize social events aimed at developing the patient’s social skills and helping to reduce feelings of isolation;

Home management:
• Manage purchasing of all home supplies (food, toiletries etc)
• Manage home staff (cleaners, cook, guard);
• Manage payment of monthly bills (staff, telephone, water, electricity, rent etc);
• Report to family members about required maintenance of the house as may be necessary (electrical, plumbing, painting) and request intervention when necessary to make sure everything is in working order;
