How to Get Interviews:

Many job seekers in Ethiopia get frustrated because they apply to many places, but never get called for interviews. This is happening to many job seekers applying for various jobs in Ethiopia through job portals such Ezega Jobs, EmployEthiopia, EthioJobs, Mjobs, etc. In many cases, the reasons are simple and common.

Regardless of whether you are applying from mjobs or employethiopia or any other, the hiring manager normally gets many resumes to review. The number one question in the mind of the hiring manager is who among the many applicants can best handle the job at hand. The only way to tell prior to interviews is through resumes and cover letters. The hiring manager would normally look for someone who has done something similar or at least one who showed interest in the work being advertised. If your cover letter so generic (the same for all jobs), you will be talking about something else not related to the job you are applying - which means, in the eye of the hiring manager, you are not suitable for the job you are applying. So, it is extremely important that you edit the cover letter for each job you are applying to show interest in the job, and to mention something related that you have done or studied in the past. The main point is that you are conveying a message to the hiring manager that you understand what the job needs and you have done or studied something related to the job you are applying.

You may also edit you resume for each job you are applying to highlight any study or work you have done that is a requirement for the job. That way the hiring manager doesn't have to look hard to find it. Remember, hiring managers barely have a few minutes to spend on each job application. Job Title: Sponsor Relation Coordinator
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director


Plan, coordinate and guide all sponsor relations activities of the organization. Ensure that Child Inventory and Child correspondence activities are performed according to the guidelines. S/he is responsible to integrate child protection/child participation strategies in all sectors in the project area and to promote child rights and children/youth participation in different phases of project management cycle. S/he liaises with the Community Development officer (CDO) and establishes community-based child protection structure in each operational kebeles; takes also the lead in implementing the child protection policy and standards according to the local context.


• Ensure sponsor relations activities at the area level are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
• Initiate and lead the CDWs in implementing effective and efficient ways of processing sponsor relations activities.
• Build capacity of parents, children and youth to maintain and continuously improve communications with donors and sponsors.
• Establish and maintain sponsor relations books (log books etc). keep track of pending inventories and correspondence and ensure that they are updated on time.
• Ensure that all materials (forms, photos, report, etc). to be sent to the donor (CF- Ethiopia) are up to the standard.
• Participate in the development, implementation, review and evaluation of the Area Strategic Plan.
• Actively participate in the development of mechanisms, and managing the relationships with other organizations to optimize marketing and grant funding opportunities.
• Regularly provide leads and suggestions to improve organizational output through submitting concept papers, sharing innovative and successful projects participating in learning networks, etc.
• Monitor all SR related activities on regularly, prepare quarterly report and submit it to project office and National Office.
• Organize training, workshops, and consultative meetings with project staff, various community groups and stakeholders in the project area on different themes of child rights and child protection.
• Establish/strengthen and support community based child protection network/ structures in the operational kebeles and Woreda level with relevant actors.
• Organize series of community dialogue on the issues of child development and on harmful traditional practices, which affect the wellbeing of children.
• Facilitate appropriate legal, medical and psycho-social services for child victims of abuse and exploitation.
• Document basic data on violations of child right and incidence of child abuse and exploitation and report to the concerned body.
• Facilitate celebration of the day of African child and other international/National or local events relevant to highlight the plight of children.
• Organize enrolled children and youths in appropriate age categories and ensure their participation in various phases of project management cycle.
• Ensure integration of child protection and children/youth participation in all sectors run by the area program.
• Assess risk factor affecting the wellbeing of children in the operational kebeles inputs for developing different project proposals.
• Prepare quarterly reports, on the operations of child protection and child participation and sponsor relations activities and submit to the donor (CF- Ethiopia).
• Work closely with CF-Ethiopia SR Department.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
