How to Get Interviews:

Many job seekers in Ethiopia get frustrated because they apply to many places, but never get called for interviews. This is happening to many job seekers applying for various jobs in Ethiopia through job portals such Ezega Jobs, EmployEthiopia, EthioJobs, Mjobs, etc. In many cases, the reasons are simple and common.

Regardless of whether you are applying from mjobs or employethiopia or any other, the hiring manager normally gets many resumes to review. The number one question in the mind of the hiring manager is who among the many applicants can best handle the job at hand. The only way to tell prior to interviews is through resumes and cover letters. The hiring manager would normally look for someone who has done something similar or at least one who showed interest in the work being advertised. If your cover letter so generic (the same for all jobs), you will be talking about something else not related to the job you are applying - which means, in the eye of the hiring manager, you are not suitable for the job you are applying. So, it is extremely important that you edit the cover letter for each job you are applying to show interest in the job, and to mention something related that you have done or studied in the past. The main point is that you are conveying a message to the hiring manager that you understand what the job needs and you have done or studied something related to the job you are applying.

You may also edit you resume for each job you are applying to highlight any study or work you have done that is a requirement for the job. Job Title: Protection Officer - Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD)

• Location: Dimma, Gambella
• Reporting To: Protection Team Leader
• Start of Contract & Duration: Five Months (5)

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure parents and community members’ engagement in preschool activities through bi-monthly PTA meetings.
• Support the preschool teachers in the preparation and implementation of learning activities for children, lesson plans, and the creation of pedagogical tools adapted to the profile and needs of the project's beneficiaries.
• Support the preschool teachers in the preparation, organization, and implementation of parents’ meetings.
• Develop and improve pedagogical tools and methodology of the incentive teachers
• Establish and maintain an effective network and partnership with refugee community leaders.
• Establish and strengthen the child protection committee (CPC) as well as child rights club members (CRC) and support them on the bi-monthly meeting to have a protective environment around the school.
• Work with and Supervise protection assistants to provide quality education in all ECCD centers.
• Prepare a detailed work plan for daily and weekly activities with the project team.
• Create a conducive learning and teaching environment in all ECCD centers.
• Provide close follow-up and supports for proper implementation of ECCD activities in collaboration with facilitators, parent-teacher association, and with the project team.
• Facilitate and organize capacity-building training for to project team, parent-teacher association, and concerned relevant stakeholders.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in an entry to mid to level position, preferably with experience in the NGO field.
• 1-2 years’ experience with the Child Protection program in refugee and humanitarian contexts.
• Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
• Full proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English and Amharic and additional advantage in Agnuak & Murle.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, ECCD, Social Work, and Sociology or other relevant fields from a recognized institution.
Languages: (indicate fluency level)
• Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Amharic and English
