February 7, 2017 - The Ethio-ICT industrial park said it is making preparations to raise the number of companies operating in the park to more than 70 at the end of this Ethiopian fiscal year (2016/17), according to FBC.
About 20 local companies have already taken office space in the park which was inaugurated 20 months ago. Six foreign companies are also building offices after receiving spaces into the park.
Berhane Keleta, director general of Ethio-ICT industrial park, said more than 170 local and foreign companies have submitted requests to enter into the ICT park.
About 50 of them are expected to enter into the park after their performances, job creation and related plans are evaluated, he said.
Over 5,000 students are currently studying ICT and related fields in 36 higher learning institutions, he said, adding “after evaluating their recommendations, we will let 20 new graduates to enter into the park.”
According to him, the new graduates will benefit a lot from the park fitted with fast Internet services, adequate power supply and other favorable infrastructures.
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology as well as Ethio-telecom have been building their head offices in the park. This will allow them to give one window and efficient services for their clients.
The construction of the second phase of the park is underway and it is expected to be completed after three years.
