March 3, 2017 - Ethiopia says some 118 individuals and security officers were awarded in recognition to their outstanding acts of bravery in thwarting planned terror attacks allegedly attempted by 1,071 anti-peace forces against Ethiopia after infiltrating via western Tigray zone from Eritrea, according to FBC.
Tekyou Meteko, deputy commander and head of security sector of zone, told FBC today that they were given the awards in recognitions for their contribution in exposing anti-peace forces and maintaining peace in the zone.
As a result of the joint efforts with the community, these members of anti-peace forces were arrested while they were trying to enter into the central part of the country.
Meanwhile, 1,085 anti-peace elements engaged in leaking information for the Eritrean government and criminal activities were also brought to justices in partnership with the residents, he said.
The 118 individuals and security officers were given money prizes and recognition yesterday. (FBC)
