July 10, 2017 - Esperance, the Tunisian football giant, hammered Saint George of Ethiopia 4-0 on Sunday to advance as Group C leaders. Esperance produced a vivid attacking display against Saint George who looked totally helpless.
Tunisian international defender Khelil Chammam opened the scoring in the 29 th minutes with a fierce shot from outside the area before lively forward Bilel Mejri doubled the lead seven minutes later.
Haythem Jouini made it 3-0 six minutes from time and Ali Machani completed the rout in stoppage time as Esperance secured a comprehensive victory.
Ahly secured their place in the last eight on Saturday after finishing second of Group D at the expense of Zambian side Zanaco.
Both sides have 11 points but Ahly advanced virtue of a better goal difference than Zanaco as both sides were tied in the head-to-head record.
Esperance finished on top of the group with 12 points, three ahead of second-placed Sundowns. They will meet record eight-time winners Ahly of Egypt in a mouthwatering two-legged quarter-final clash in September.
