July 31, 2017 - Ethiopia will face Zambia this Saturday in a friendly match, reports Lusaka Times. Ahead of this game, Zamibian national team’s coach, Wedson Nyirenda, has dropped some of its key players due to disciplinary reasons.
After their defeat by Ghana, the Ethiopian Walias hammered Djibouti’s national team 5 to 1 a couple of weeks ago. Following this defeat by Ethiopia, Djibouti’s football federation dismantled its national team in order to create another team built by young palyers.
According to Lusaka time, the match will be Zambia’s buildup ahead of their August 12 match against South Africa in a 2018 CHAN final round, first leg qualifier.
Green Buffaloes midfielder Mike Katiba returns to the team after missing the Swaziland CHAN qualifying matches due to a head injury he sustained in Zambia’s 3-1 loss to Zimbabwe in the 2017 COSAFA Cup final on July 9 in Rustenburg, South Africa.
Otherwise, Nyirenda has kept faith in the team that eliminated Swaziland 7-0 on aggregate from the first round of the 2018 CHAN qualifiers.
