Ethiopia: Fasil Kenema Signs Two Ugandan Footballers

Fasil-Ketema-Ethiopian-ClubSeptember 16, 2017 - Ethiopian northern city club, Fasil Kenema, signed two Ugandan footballers, Yasser Mugerwa and Robert Sentongo. The Ethiopia Premier League side Fasil Kenema is currently camped in the arid town of Debrezeyit ahead of the anticipated league kick off in late October.

The two Uganda Cranes internationals put pen to paper on a one-year deal at the club found in the Northern Ethiopian town of Gonder.Ssentongo joins as a free agent following the expiration of his employment contract at KCCA Football Club.

Meanwhile, Mugerwa left St George F.C after a mutual agreement because he was still contracted with the country’s most successful club.It’s reported that Fassil Kenema forked out $22,000 from their coffers (as compensation fee to St George F.C) for the creative midfielder. However, Mugerwa’s sign on fees as a person remained undisclosed.

The former Super Cubs, Nkumba University, URA midfielder nearly joined the reigning Ethiopia Cup champions Woliyta Dicha but the talks were not conclusive.

He spent just one season with St George having joined from South African PSL outfit Orlando Pirates. For striker Sentengo, this will be his second spell in Ethiopia having played at St George in 2012/13 season.

Fassil Kenema has also captured goal machine Philip Dauzi (from UAE), Christopher Omoseibi (from Ikorodu United).

They are joined by 23-year-old goalkeeper from Mali Michael Momodou Samaki (CS Dougouwolofila), Dawit Estifanos (Electric), Ramkel Lok (St.George), Biniyam Habtamu(DireDawa), Aynalem Hailu (Dedebit) and two other players from the lower league.
