UK, Ethiopia Sign £176 Million Grant Agreement
October 6, 2018 - Ethiopia and the United Kingdom signed two grant agreements yesterday amounting £176 million, according to FBC report.
The agreements were signed by Admasu Nebebe, Ethiopia’s State Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation, and Mrs. Harriet Baldwin, Minister of State for Africa.
£110 million of the grant agreement was allocated to finance general education quality improvement programs in Ethiopia, whereas the remaining £66 million grant will support the Ethiopian investment advisory facility (EIAF) phase II project.
The education support program is targeting disadvantaged learners, including children with disability, in pre-primary, primary, and secondary education, particularly in under-performing regions such as Somali, Afar and Benshangul Gumuz regional states
The £66 million grant is allocated to promote public investments and help exporters in Ethiopia to promote outward orientated and manufacturing-led inclusive growth.
