Former TPLF Official Plans to Join Another Party
February 10, 2019 (Ezega.com) - Former spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister and Deputy Head of Government Communications Affairs Office, Zadig Abraha, said that he will join another political party upon his return from the UK, where he is pursuing his master's degree.
Zadig Abraha was a member of the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF) until he resigned recently on February 5, 2019.
In his resignation letter, Zadig cited the handling of the Raya issue as one of the differences he had with the TPLF. “The way the Raya issue is being handled is not democratic,” he said in the letter.
Following his unprecedented resignation from the TPLF, Zadig Abraha said he is planning to come back to Ethiopia to pursue his political activities.
Zadig Abraha joined the TPLF in 2008/09. Since then, he has served in different posts at the federal level, including the now defunct Government of Communication Affairs Office and the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Secretariat.
“TPLF was my first party as far as my political life is concerned,” he said to The Reporter, denying the speculation that he was first a member of the then Amhara National Democratic Movement Party, now Amhara Democratic Party (ADP).
Zadig attributed his resignation to his views diverging from the TPLF. “It is been so long since I started to depart from the views and ideas reflected by those within the party,” he said.
He also admitted that during the latest TPLF meetings he was severely criticized by members for different reasons, including for being a champion of color revolution, and establishing informal networks with people like the former Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn, Deputy PM DemekeMekonne and unnamed foreigners.
“I was also criticized for conspiring to bring about a regime change,” he said.
Zadig Abraha is said to have been romatically linked with the daughter of the late Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi, Semhal Meles.
