Reconciliation Commission, Boundary & Identity Commission Held First Sessions
February 12, 2019 (Ezega.com) - Ethiopian Reconciliation Commission held its first meeting in Addis Ababa yesterday.
The groipd showed up for a photo session along with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen.
The commission elected Cardinal Berhaneyesus chairman of the commission and Yetnebersh Niguse deputy chairman.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed urged members of the National Reconciliation Commission to work for national cohesion.
“You are now tasked with nurturing and sustaining national cohesion,” he said during the orientation session.
Heencouraged them to create a system that can be a model for other countries, according to Office of the Prime Minister.
In a related news, the newly formed Administrative Boundary and Identity Issues Commission also held its orientation session yesterday.
Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen Chaired the discussion. Various questions regarding the structure, objectives and priority issues of the commission were discussed.
Members of both commissions are expected to start work immediately and they are expected to work in close alignment with the Ministry of Peace.
