Cranky supermodel Naomi Campbell, tossed from a British Airways jet after a tussle over her luggage and arrested after she allegedly spat at a police officer, was released from custody early yesterday, People reports.
Have we learned nothing? Getting between Campbell and her clothes is a risky proposition -- she pleaded guilty to assault after throwing a cell phone at a maid over missing jeans, and is the subject of another lawsuit from another maid in a separate though similar incident.
According to Campbell's rep, the model was on her way to Los Angeles for a memorial service when she was informed that one of her two checked bags was missing. British Airways, which has been under fire for more than a week for losing upwards of 20,000 pieces of luggage in its new Heathrow terminal, "decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her," her rep, Annabel Fox, said.
But an airport source tells People that Campbell was "really obnoxious" at check-in and was refused entry into the VIP lounge. When informed the airline wouldn't let her board the plane with two large, hand-held bags, she "threw a few things around the cabin and then spat at the cops."
