October 3, 2019 (Ezega.com) -- The Amhara Democratic Party (ADP) has blamed undisclosed forces for the recent killings and violence in northern part the regional state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the regional government described the yet undisclosed forces made up of people raised in conspiracy politics. “The forces have had the mission of gaining political profit and hindering the ongoing reform in Amhara state in particular and the country in general.”
According to the statement, the forces have launched attacks in different places, killing innocent people while subjecting many others to displacement. The forces, which the statement also referred to as “loser gamblers,” have been trying to crack down the long-time relationship between the Qimant and Amhara people who have been living in harmony for centuries.
The statement entitled “the ongoing reform in Amhara and the country will not be interrupted by those gamblers of the previous time,” further said the destructive forces have gravely affected crop harvest and other economic activities in the state.
The statement said the “anonymous forces” have used any differences between the people of Amhara and Qimant ethnic groups as a cover to carry out their hidden agenda of weakening the people of Amhara and then dismantling Ethiopia.
The regional government said the “anonymous forces” have armed, financed the perpetrators and used different media outlets, mainly social media, to create havoc in the regional state. It is recalled that dozens of people were killed in Chilga town of the state in an ambush and no one has claimed responsibility for it.
ADP said regional security forces along with the public have put the attacks under control. It also demanded that the central government take immediate action to clamp down social media incitements which it said is aggravating the situations by disseminating misleading information.
The regional governing party did not mention the third party which it said is creating violence in the region. But observer believe it is thinly-veiled reference to the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which is in control of Tigray in northern Ethiopia.
The Amahra and Tigray regional governments entered what many describe as a cold war since June this year. This followed when senior government officials were gunned down on the same day in Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa, including the late president of Amhara state, Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen, and the late Chief of Staff of Defense Forces, General Seare Mekonnen, a Tigrayan and member of the TPLF.
Soon after the killings, the TPLF issue a strongly-worded statement all but accusing the ADP as mostly responsible for the current troubles Ethiopia is going today. It also declared that it cannot work with ADP unless the ADP apologizes and corrects its course. In return, the ADP basically called the TPLF a traitor and reactionary organization that cannot be cured.
