War-broke-out-TPLF-FederalNovember 3, 2020 (Ezega.com) -- War broke out between Ethiopia’s federal government and Tigray region after the regional government attacked military camp housing federal troops in the region, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced.

In a recorded video message, Abiy said the Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) on Tuesday night attacked a military camp, killing several soldiers and destroying military equipment.

According to the Premier, TPLF also launched attacks in Mekele and other places of the region as well as in the Dalshah area bordering the Amhara region but shielded.

Abiy said he had ordered a military response to the multiple attacks and called on the people of Ethiopia to watch out and defend possible attacks that may occur in different parts of the nation.

"Our defence forces have been ordered to carry out their mission to save the country. The final point of the red line has been crossed. Force is being used as the last measure to save the people and the country," he said.

Ezega.com has learned that the federal government is deploying airborne fighters by military jets from Bahirdar and Addis Ababa to Mekele city.

He said that region where security forces property the members of the federal defence troops while they were on duty as members of the Northern command force.

He said the attack on military camp caused death of soldiers and massive destruction of properties. “TPLF troops also tried to loot military equipment of the Northern Command Army.”

It is not clear the North command force is currently under the command of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed or authorities of the Tigray region.

“The attack against the troops of the defence force was so shameful because it was carried out by Ethiopians who betrayed their country” he said.

TPLF carried out the attack against the northern command force which has been defending the people of Tigray for the last 20 years from possible assaults. TPLF troops attacked the force as if it was foreign aggressor, Abiy said.

“The national defence force would discharge responsibility bestowed to it by the people of Ethiopia. TPLF has been sponsoring the killings of innocent people in different parts of the country. Hence, the government is forced to use military power as a last resort to defend the nation and its people,” Abiy added.

Internet monitoring group Netblocks reported that the internet appeared to have been cut in Tigray as of 1am local time (2200 GMT).
